British Airways Iberia Merger Meets Resistance

The Guardian is reporting that Unite, the union B.A. is in negotiations with over cabin crew contracts, is also raising its eyebrows about the two airlines’ potential merger to form Europe’s third largest carrier.  Given BA’s pre-merger plans to cut back on jobs and salaries of its cabin crew, this merger is bound to be met with dissension from Unite.  Many times, the cost savings of combining airlines is achieved by having a small employee base.
