Christmas Adventure, in Yorkshire
I love ice skating. I was looking up places to go ice skate (also known as places with warm cafes so my husband can comfortably WATCH me ice skate) and came across The Christmas Adventure which is right here in Yorkshire! Now I can’t speak to it from personal experience (something I hope to rectify very soon!) but I’m intrigued by their claim to have an “eco-friendly ice rink.”
I’m not sure if that means it’s cold and frozen because it’s outdoors, or that in the summer it becomes a swimming pool but I’m determined to find out. The Christmas Adventure has other features such as the Enchanted Wood where you can “choose to walk or don a
pair of Nordic skis” to travel through and see all the magical characters displayed within.
Speaking of Nordic skis, I must admit that I was very impressed with the contribution that The Christmas Adventure made to the BBC Children in Need appeal, and I remember seeing them reporting in from the event on the night. From their website: “A huge well done to everyone who took part in the Children in Need Skiathon last Friday. Team Stockeld raised over £300 in a ski relay and the total amount raised by visitors will be updated shortly!”
Sadly, it does not appear that The Christmas Adventure is close to any public transport other than buses from the Leeds or Harrogate train stations, which makes it a bit more of a challenge for me to investigate. I do have nieces whose parents have a car, however, and I think that a trip to see Santa in his Grotto and peruse the Christmas Shop might be in order on one of my days off from work. Here’s hoping they like to ice skate!
